Arena rules

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Draft. These rules describe how the Arena works today. The official rules for prizes will be published here before any prize is awarded.

Who can take part

Anyone aged 16 or over with a Better Deen account and a player profile. Taking part is free with the app; there's no entry fee and nothing can be bought to gain an advantage.

The game

The Qur'an quiz: ten timed questions built from the literal text of the Qur'an. The server chooses the questions, keeps the answers and judges every match; the app only sends your answers.

Rating

  • Everyone starts at 1,000. Every match is against a challenge with its own rating.
  • A win always adds at least one point and a loss always takes at least one: the stronger the opponent, the more you win and the less you lose.
  • A match left unfinished for 15 minutes counts as a loss. At most 30 matches per hour.

Seasons and months

  • Seasons run from January to June and from July to December, in UTC. Each season starts every rating halfway back to 1,000.
  • The monthly ranking is the season rating at the end of the month, among players with at least 15 matches that month.
  • Ties go to whoever reached that rating first.

Prizes

  • Top 3 of each season: a badge and a Noor gift.
  • Number 1 of each month: Better Deen free forever. This prize starts on a date we'll announce in the app and on this page.
  • Badges for the month's champion, the season's top 3, 10 and 100, and every participant.
  • Winners are contacted at their account's email. Prizes can't be exchanged for money.

Fair play

Modified apps, automated answers, shared or multiple accounts and any attempt to manipulate results lead to removal from the rankings and loss of prizes. Offensive player names are changed or removed.

Organiser

The Arena is organised by Better Deen. Apple and Google are not sponsors and are not involved in the competition in any way.
